Active study strategy: predict what’s on the exam

Active study strategies, like previewing or predicting what will be on a test, is a great way to boost confidence prior to the test and improve your child’s test scores. To make thoughtful predictions about the content of an exam, start by reviewing assigned readings. Look over key concepts, chapter review questions, handouts, study guides, and homework assignments. When your child reviews these materials and asks herself, “What will be on this test?” she begins with the end in mind, which allows her to visualize what’s ahead and prepare accordingly. And when she feels she has a better sense of what’s likely coming, she’ll enter the exam more confident in her ability to conquer it.
