An efficient test-taking strategy

To avoid taking too much time on reading sections of tests, help your child develop effective and efficient test-taking strategies. Writing down the “main idea” of each paragraph while she reads (even 1-2 words in the margins will do!) can prevent your child from “double-reading” long passages and wasting precious time. The notes will help her locate specific details later on in the exam when she wants to double-check an answer to a multiple choice question, or find support for an open-response question. With a little practice and an efficient strategy in place, your child will save time, improve her comprehension and be well-equipped to ace the exam!
