Creating a study-friendly environment

Research has shown that creating a study-friendly environment free from distractions is the best way to help students focus and do their best work. It’s less about the precise location and much more about the specific conditions in which your child is doing his homework. Here are a few thoughts on how to create an optimal study-friendly environment for your child. (For more detail, please link here to our February blog post on this topic.) Develop a routine by designating a (fairly) regular time to do homework. Wherever your child chooses to study, make sure the space is quiet enough so your child can focus and not be continually interrupted or distracted. Use a desk or table with a chair and ample lighting. Avoid the floor and bed! Keep supplies close at hand (perhaps even in a portable caddy).
