The Importance of Self-Reflection

Many successful people make time for self-reflection. It’s a good habit for students to engage in, too. Weekly self-reflection allows students to take stock of what is working and what is not, and then thoughtfully choose to stay-the-course or make course corrections if needed. At first, your child will likely need some coaching (and coaxing!) but with practice she’ll be able to weave it seamlessly into her weekly routine. Here are a few thought-starters to get your child focused in the right direction:

  1. Where was I most successful this week?
  2. What factors allowed me to be successful and most productive?
  3. What didn’t work well for me this week?
  4. What might I do differently next week?
