It’s Like Riding a Bike. Simple.

If you think you can, you will. If you think you can’t, you won’t.

Over Labor Day weekend I taught my five-year-old son how to ride a bike. It didn’t start well. He got very frustrated and after a bunch of false starts he said, deflated: “This is impossible!” We took a break and I told him that once he makes up his mind that he can do it, he will. Twenty-four hours later we went after it again. Before he got on the bike I asked him: “Can you do this?” He said “Yes!” And he did.

Self-doubt creates limits and boundaries. Believing you can is the first step to finding success. When your child is stuck, can you help him believe that he can?
